Good voice announcements are clear yet unobtrusive; perfectly intelligible, yet no louder than necessary. Announcements are only effective if shoppers can hear and understand them. The key is to make this happening with minimal risk of annoyance. This means that high-quality equipment needs to be used: the poorer the quality of the audio equipment, the higher the sound level has to be to reach an acceptable level of speech intelligibility.
